A little history: The Plainview Slash Site is located on California State Route 108 across from the west (lower) entrance to Twain Harte. The Plainview Slash Site property (approximately eight ½ acres) is managed by the Highway 108 FireSafe Council, Inc (FSC). The FSC has been granted a land use (no fee) permit from the US Department of the Interior – Bureau of Land Management (BLM) for the operation of a “wood waste processing” site, commonly referred to as the “Plainview Slash Site.” The FireSafe Council sub-leases the site to David Wise, a qualified and financially responsible private contractor during open months.
