Tuolumne County Supervisor Sherri Brennan will chair the Rural County Representatives of California (RCRC) Ad Hoc Committee on Homeowners Insurance. “The Committee is tasked with considering potential solutions for the increase in homeowners insurance cancellations and non-renewals in high fire risk areas,” according to RCRC.
Potential solutions include introducing additional insurers into rural areas, working with the insurance industry on an insurance risk reduction model, examining insurance industry risk modeling, re-creating or revising the California Fair Access to Insurance Requirements Plan (FAIR), and working directly with policy advocates, the California Legislature, and the California Department of Insurance to develop options.
The Committee will issue a report no later than the August 2020 RCRC Board of Directors meeting.
In addition to Tuolumne County Supervisor Brennan, Committee members are Bob Williams, Tehama County; Lee Adams, Sierra County; Kevin Cann, Mariposa County; Diane Dillon, Napa County; Randy Fletcher, Yuba County; Dan Miller, Nevada County; Brian Oneto, Amador County; and Lori Parlin, El Dorado County.
Perhaps all our local insurance brokers should be invited to participate?
