Big Hill Fuel Break Maintenance
This project consists of 5 strategic fuelbreak areas in the Big Hill area, primarily along ridges and adjacent to Big Hill Road. These Fuel Breaks were originally constructed 10-15 years ago and are in need of maintenance. Maintenance will consist of masticating brush and small trees that have grown in the existing fuel breaks, treating storm damage, and completing portions of the fuel breaks that were not previously treated. Some areas will be treated by hand piling and burning where mechanical operations are not feasible due to terrain, etc. This group of Fuel Breaks is designed to protect in excess of 6000 habitable structures.
